What is experimental gene therapy in No More Room in Hell 2?
Gene Therapy is the real cure (one kit per match). Two injects — sample, wait, then apply. It can grant immunity. Phalanx Pills only delay stages. See the table above.
This No More Room in Hell 2 how to cure infected page is the NPV clock for Torn Banner Studios's 8-player extraction FPS: Phalanx Pills delay (3 uses per bottle), Gene Therapy is the real cure (one per match) and can grant immunity, and death while infected can turn you into a hostile zombie. Official symptoms run from coughing and hallucinations to psychosis and visible veins. Verified August 16, 2026 · Steam · official infection copy.

No More Room in Hell 2 infection starts on a bite or grab you fail to break. Official copy: Phalanx Pills delay the condition and buy time to reach an extract option. They do not replace Gene Therapy. Each bottle is a limited-use item with 3 doses, so count uses, not icons. Welcome notes.

| Tool | What it does | When to spend it | Do not |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phalanx Pills | Delay infection stages — 3 uses per bottle, looted on the map | When symptoms jump (new cough, psychosis, first veins) | Hoard a full bottle while a teammate is collapsing |
| Keep stamina up | Failed grab minigame (mash to break) is the usual bite | Shove, step, then swing — empty bar is an insta-bite window | Charge melee into a crowd on a red stamina bar |
| Keep health above half | Low HP raises infection chance on ordinary hits | Bandage between fights, not after the next grab | Tank Walkers “because you have kits in the bag” |
| Acquired Immunity | Skill that cuts infection chance; Expert can go further | Build it on a slot you intend to keep — skills | Treat the perk as a substitute for pills |
A dose knocks the condition back so you can walk, loot, and talk. Official copy does not publish a seconds-per-dose timer — count remaining uses, not a clock you invented. Sprint or a zombie hit during the swallow animation cancels the use. If veins are already on screen, eat the pill in cover, then move — do not start a Charged swing with the bottle still in hand.
The cheapest delay is not getting bitten again. Empty stamina turns a grab into an instant bite regardless of remaining health. Below about half HP, ordinary zombie hits can infect. That is why this page sits next to the melee guide and the beginner guide: shove, recover, then swing. A second bite while you are already on pills just spends the bottle faster.
Delay only matters if you spend the extra minutes on a cure or an extract, not on another radio tower.
No More Room in Hell 2 how to cure infected has one real answer: experimental Gene Therapy. Official 1.0 copy: it can cure you and give immunity, but only one spawns per match. Treat it as a team item, not a personal trophy. Welcome notes.

| Step | What happens | Fail state |
|---|---|---|
| Find the kit | Orange-and-gray case — ping it the moment you see it | Walking past it because “someone else will grab it” |
| First inject | Draws a blood sample; a progress bar starts (~30 seconds) | Dropping the kit here resets it for the next player |
| Wait for green | Antibody synthesis — you are still infected during the wait | Injecting again before the bar is ready |
| Second inject | Applies the therapy: clears current infection and can grant immunity for the rest of the drop | Getting grabbed mid-inject and losing the window |
| Who gets it | The collapsing expensive Responder outranks a fresh bite that still has pills | The healthiest player using it “for immunity later” |
Gene Therapy is a two-step injector, not a single-click med. First trigger takes a sample. Wait until the bar is ready (about half a minute), then inject again. If you drop the kit after the sample, it resets — the next Responder starts at step one. That is useful if the sampler dies; it is fatal if you dump it because the bag felt heavy. Veins on the glass means you may not have a fresh two-step left. Pop pills first, then start the kit, or extract.
Do not open Gene Therapy on a cough that still has two Phalanx uses and a live extract. Save it for the slot whose death deletes a loadout the squad cannot replace, or for the player already in psychosis with an empty bottle. Immunity for the rest of the match is real — that is why a clean player sometimes wants the kit — but a collapsing teammate turning in the hallway costs more than one person’s comfort. If the kit is already spent, this page’s remaining answers are pills and extract.
Pills delay. Gene Therapy cures. Mixing those two sentences up is how expensive Responders disappear.
Extracting while infected is a timed gamble, not a free cleanse in the field. If you board alive, the infection does not carry into the next deployment — you keep the Responder. If you collapse in the extract window, you can turn and attack the squad that was trying to save you. Call it before the helicopter, not during.
| Call | You keep | You risk |
|---|---|---|
| Early extract, infected but stable | The Responder (levels, skills, loadout) | Little Character XP; a small Credits trickle |
| Final extract, infected, pills left | XP plus Credits from team Supplies — if you survive the loud window | Turning on the pad while the rest are boarding |
| Extract at veins / collapse | Almost nothing if you convert mid-window | A hostile zombie inside the extract, plus a deleted slot |
| Stay and hunt Gene Therapy | A possible full cure and immunity | Spending the last minutes on a kit that already spawned elsewhere |
Official 1.0 framing: early extract protects the character and pays little; final extract converts team Supplies into Credits and grants Character XP. On an advancing infection with no Gene Therapy left, a living slot beats a full Supply bag. That is the same abort rule as the extract page, just with a harder clock. Do not start the last CRC interact “because we are so close” if psychosis just started and the bottle is empty.
An infected extract only works if you still control the character through the window. Veins on the edges of the screen are the last stage. If you will turn before the door closes, you are bringing a zombie into the extract, not a Responder. Say so. The squad can peel, you can self-remove away from the pad, or they can leave you. Silent collapse next to the helicopter is the wipe. Rescue Beacon blocks one character-loss event and occupies a loadout slot — it does not stop you from converting if you die infected in the field. Details: Responders.
If the squad still needs your bag of Supplies and you still have pills, delay, then board. If not, abort. The tips list is the short version of that habit.
Tell them the moment you know — bite confirmed, first cough, psychosis, first veins — on proximity voice. Coughs are audible; waiting until “it gets bad” only means they hear you before you brief them.
| Trigger | What you say | What the squad does |
|---|---|---|
| Bite / failed grab | “Infected, pills up, still moving.” | Mark Gene Therapy if anyone has seen the case; do not donate the only bottle yet |
| First cough | “Cough, two doses left.” | Stop pulling extra rooms; path toward kit or extract |
| Hallucinations / psychosis | “Audio/vision going, hunting kit or aborting.” | Assign an escort; do not send the infected solo into a dark interior |
| Veins on the glass | “Veins — I am a timer. Extract or drop me.” | Open early extract or peel; do not start a new generator |
| Gene Therapy spotted | Ping + “kit here, collapsing slot first.” | The expensive collapsing Responder gets the two-step, not the healthiest player |
CRC drops scatter the squad. Proximity voice does not cover a whole Power Plant. The group-up ping widens range and shows position — hit it when you are infected so the nearest Responders can actually hear the call. If nobody is in range, ping Gene Therapy, ping extract, and walk toward the cluster, not toward another loot house. LFG before the drop lives on Discord; the in-match call is still your job.
“I am fine” is useless. “Two Phalanx left, no kit seen, I can hold to the pad” lets the squad pick extract versus greed. Pass bottles toward the worst timer. Do not hide a Gene Therapy in a private corner. The tips page is the habit list; this page is the script.
Once the call is out, the remaining skill is reading the symptom on your own screen so you do not under-sell the clock.
Official symptoms run from minor coughing to hallucinations and acute psychosis; once veins appear, you are close to turning. Read the stack so you spend pills and Gene Therapy on the right beat, not on panic. This page does not invent numbered “Stage 2” mechanics Torn Banner has not published.
| Symptom (official) | What you notice | What to spend |
|---|---|---|
| Bite / early | Bite landed; little or no HUD tell yet | Loot pills, ping the squad, keep stamina off empty |
| Cough | Audible cough — teammates nearby can hear you | First Phalanx dose if the bottle is full; start pathing to kit or extract |
| Hallucinations / psychosis | Voices, audio distortion, tightening vision | Next dose if the first is burned; do not solo a dark interior |
| Veins | Vein lines on the edges of the screen — close to turning | Last dose immediately; Gene Therapy only if the bar can finish; otherwise extract or get clear of the squad |
| Conversion | You die and can return as a hostile zombie | The slot is the cost. Rescue Beacon is a separate loadout insurance, not a cleanse |
As infection progresses, sight can gray at the edges and tunnel. Psychosis audio tells you people are against you and to give up. That is the game lying to you while also making Gene Therapy harder to see on the floor. If vision just started collapsing, you should already be moving toward a known kit ping or an extract, not checking one more cabinet.
Veins are the last tell. A fresh Gene Therapy needs a sample plus a wait. If veins just hit and the kit is still in the case, pills first. If the bottle is empty and the kit is across the map, you are in the extract-or-peel branch above. Death in this state is how a Responder becomes another Prime-adjacent problem for the people who were covering you. Zombies covers types; this page’s job is not adding yourself to that list.
Scan this before you queue again. Most deleted slots are process errors: silence, hoarding, or finishing a POI on an empty bottle.
| Mistake | Fix |
|---|---|
| Ignoring a cough | Pills immediately; hunt Gene Therapy or abort — this page + extract |
| Hoarding the only bottle | Pass doses to the worst timer; delay is a team resource |
| Using Gene Therapy on a fresh bite | Pills first; kit goes to collapse or the expensive slot |
| One inject and walk away | Wait for the bar, second inject; dropping after the sample resets the kit |
| Sprinting through the pill animation | Swallow in cover; a hit or sprint cancels the dose |
| Empty-stamina Charged into a grab | Shove, recover, then swing — melee |
| Silent infection on proximity voice | Call bite, cough, psychosis, veins with dose count |
| Final extract at veins | Early extract or peel — do not board collapsing |
| Solo-sprinting a kit room | Group-up ping, then enter; a second bite spends the delay |
| Treating Solo as the place to “practice turning” | Solo has no permadeath and no regular XP — drill the swallow and the two-step there, then run Beginner Objective |
On every symptom jump, say the tell and the remaining doses, then pick kit or extract. That is the whole No More Room in Hell 2 how to cure infected loop. The beginner guide is the first-drop order; tips is the short checklist; this page is the clock.

No. They delay deterioration so you can reach Gene Therapy or extract. Official copy: limited-use, 3 doses per bottle, communicate remaining uses.
One per match. Treat it as a team item. The collapsing expensive Responder outranks a fresh bite that still has pills.
If you board alive, the infection does not carry to the next drop and you keep the Responder. If you collapse in the extract window you can turn on the squad. Early extract when the kit is gone. See extract.
Official symptoms: coughing, hallucinations, psychosis, then veins on the screen edges when you are close to turning. Coughs are audible to nearby teammates. Call the symptom and remaining doses — do not wait.
Death while infected can turn you into a hostile zombie. That is a squad wipe tool, not a respawn. Call veins early and get clear of the pad.
On the bite, then again on cough, psychosis, and veins, with dose count. Nearby teammates can hear a cough — brief them before they only hear you hacking.
No. It lowers the chance of becoming infected. Expert can go further. You still loot Phalanx and still spend Gene Therapy on collapse. See skills.
